Tina Blenke’s Shifting Weight

Today Tina Blenke joined me for an interview. Her latest book Shifting Weight is out now and you won’t want to miss it. I loved getting to ask her some fun questions, but her responses were just as fun! Read all about the book and an excerpt that will make you want to keep reading! Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom to enter for a chance to win a copy of the book and a gift card.

Amanda C. Stone: Thank you so much for joining me today! If you could be famous/infamous for one thing, what would you choose?
Tina Blenke: This is a tough one. I’m just going to say that it be fun to be famous for not caring what others think. I like to speak my mind and share my opinions (but only if you ask). I try to be sensitive, though it isn’t my strength, and I try not to be emotional, but that’s difficult when you are really passionate about something and I’m terrible at pretending to be something I’m not. So as long as I’m not famous or infamous about being a dishonest uncaring person, then I think we’re all good here. Or if I could have a collection of ridiculously good looking men waiting on me hand and foot, that would be awesome, too. Whichever is most convenient.
ACS: Hmm, I like your thinking on having a collection of good looking men waiting on you. I think you’re on to something there! You are on a deserted island and can have only one book with you. What book would it be?

TB: I’d have to cheat a little bit and make it the complete works of Shakespeare. I absolutely love the bard and the collection has everything from suspense to romance and a dabble of history. Great stuff. The first story I’d ever heard of Shakespeare’s was Romeo and Juliet and I loved it immediately. Of course, I would wonder about what would have happened if they’d lived and if they would have still loved each other a few weeks later. Another of my favorites is King Lear. Lear was such an egotistical jerk only caring about superficial love. He annoyed me so much that he’s one of my all-time favorite characters.
ACS: A complete works would be wonderful to have! Would also keep you occupied while you wait to be rescued. Who would you want to have as a stripper at your birthday party?

TB: What? I can only have one?
ACS: Yup, just one. I’m evil, I know.
TB: If it’s one, then I’d like Cobly Keller. If I can have another one, can it please be Calvin from Sean Cody? And I’d also have to include Joe Manganiello and Todd Sanfield. Pretty please? I might have thought about this a time or two and it would be so very kind of you to grant this birthday wish because I’ve been so very good.
ACS: Very true. It is your birthday after all. I’ll allow you to have all of them join in on the birthday fun. As long as I’m invited to the party! If you could snap your fingers and have an invention to do anything you want, what would you want it to do?

TB: I love to travel. So I’m going to show my nerdy side and request a TARDIS to transport me through all of time and space. It’s the space and time machine that it used by the Doctor on Doctor Who. I’d love to see all the corners of the earth and lay on all the beaches while returning back home without missing a minute of today. Wouldn’t that be just fabulous? I’m not sure going to different planets and galaxies would be interesting since I’m afraid of heights but it might be fun to spin around and do once or twice on a slow weekend but exploring our own planet would be great fun. Especially if I could sneak away during a boring meeting.
ACS: Oh my gosh! I’m having a nerd moment over here. I’m a fan of Doctor Who as well! Last question. Name 3 things on your Bucket List

TB: You know this isn’t something I’ve put any time or thought into at all so I’m going to have to wing it just for you. Usually, if there’s something I want to do I just go ahead and do it. But like I said before, I really do love to travel so maybe that’s where I’ll start.

  1. I’d like to see Shakespeare’s birth place in England and where the Globe theater used to stand. To walk in the same town under the same stars as the bard would be fantastic. I’ve never been to England and it would be nice place to visit sometime.
  2. I’d like to go to Ireland and see the kissing stone. I’m not so sure about hanging over the edge (again heights!) but I’d like to at least try it out and see all of the gorgeous countryside. My distant relatives came over from Ireland and it would be neat to see where they came from.
  3. I want to walk along the Great Wall and admire the history there. Again, there are gorgeous landscapes but the stories that are on either side of the wall and within the wall itself would have me awestruck from moment one.

ACS: Oooh. Your bucket list sounds like so much fun! Definitely places I’d love to visit as well. Thank you so much for joining me today. I loved having you!

Blurb:
Jason is a West Coast wolf Shifter who leaves his native Pack Lands to search for his destined mate. When he finds the large muscled man working out a local gym, Jason is ecstatic and apprehensive. Eric is a Changeless human and there are tense sides to the politically heated debate around the integration of Shifters and Changeless. Jason is at risk of losing control of his wolf without bonding with his destined mate. But, will Eric accept that Jason is a Shifter? And can Eric trust Jason after his heart has been left shattered from a previously failed relationship.

Excerpt:
Jason allowed himself to run that night. Elation filled him making it easier to relax and allow his wolf to flow into his mind and body. The shift was seamless, years of transitioning helped his wolf to take control in under a few painless minutes. Jason knew of wolves who could never shift because the pain was so intense. It was unknown what the cause was but some insisted that it was because the Shifter’s true mate had never been found and the man could not control the beast inside of him.

The old wives’ tale had haunted Jason especially as years passed without locating his mate. Now that he knew Eric existed, it was one less thing to worry about. Now he could focus on worrying about Eric finding out he was a Shifter. Eric’s acceptance. If the two would find love and happiness despite fate playing a factor, then, and only then, could Jason think about starting a family with Eric. Maybe he was jumping the gun, but he had always wanted a man to love and a family to care for. Was it too much to want? Shouldn’t he be satisfied with finding a mate? All of this thinking and stress was weighing him down. Yes, he had found his mate, but would Eric want Jason?

His legs pumped harder as he made his way across hills and through forests with large trees reaching up towards the skies. It was not the familiar woods of his home on the Pack Lands but it felt good to stretch his limbs, pull deep pulls of fresh air into his lungs, and feel the wind tickling through his fur all over his body. With a grin, he imagined his large bear of a mate with sexual wants that matched his own.

About Tina:
Tina is a retired Air Force brat and has lived in several states as well as a handful of countries. She has always had a soft spot for literature and is a voracious reader. When she isn’t writing, she can be found cuddled up with a good book. Though Tina adores a thrilling novel with sappy lovesick heroes, she is terrified of things that go bump in the night. This makes for quite a complicated relationship with zombies, something that she just can’t get enough of.
