Silvia Violet’s Unexpected Engagement

Posted in: Excerpt Tour

I am a self proclaimed Silvia Violet fangirl. I love her books, they’re so good and she writes in so many different genres so I respect the heck out of her versatility. The latest book in her Unexpected series is out now and I’ve got my copy. I cannot wait to read Unexpected Engagement. Today she joins me to share an excerpt you won’t find anywhere else. Read all about the book, and the exclusive excerpt that is short, yet powerful. At the very bottom, enter for a chance to win an Amazon or ARe gift card.

Blurb:
Simon McLeod was a promising young naval captain before his ship was attacked and CIA agents forced him to fake his death and join their ranks. Since that horrible night, Simon has focused on finding the men responsible for ending his career. He’s close now, but he needs help from the man he loves. The problem is Edgar is straight, has no idea how Simon feels, and threatened to strangle him the last time they were together.

After years of using his medical expertise to patch Simon up after ill-advised missions, Edgar told Simon not to come running to him anymore. Watching Simon self-destruct was too painful. But when Simon shows up on Edgar’s doorstep covered in blood, Edgar can’t turn him away. He also can’t fight the feelings he has for Simon, feelings that go way beyond friendship.

Neither man thought he’d ever truly be happy again, but if they can survive a final dangerous mission, they might be able to prove themselves wrong.

Excerpt:
Edgar threw back the covers and forced himself out of bed. Dreams of the attack on the Ridgeway and the other horrors he’d experienced in the years had been an occasional problem, but since his breakup with Simon—what the fuck? Why am I calling it a breakup? We weren’t dating—they’d been coming more and more frequently. Now they were a nightly event. In his dreams, Simon was always taken from him by something beyond his control—monsters, monstrous forms made of fire, or whirlwinds that had a life of their own. Something always tore Simon from him before Edgar could heal him.

You miss him.

No. Yes. But I can’t keep rescuing him when he doesn’t truly want to be saved.

If he didn’t want you to save him, he wouldn’t keep calling you.

He only calls me to bail him out. He chooses to risk his life again and again, taking missions that put him in situations no sane person would agree to.

Edgar banged his hand against the doorframe, making it rattle. He’d tear it apart and the whole bathroom with it if the destruction would really take his anger away, but nothing short of Simon acting like he still valued his life would do that.

About Silvia:
Silvia Violet writes erotic romance in a variety of genres including paranormal, contemporary, and historical. She can be found haunting coffee shops looking for the darkest, strongest cup of coffee she can find. Once equipped with the needed fuel, she can happily sit for hours pounding away at her laptop. Silvia typically leaves home disguised as a suburban stay-at-home-mom, and other coffee shop patrons tend to ask her hilarious questions like “Do you write children’s books?” She loves watching the looks on their faces when they learn what she’s actually up to. When not writing, Silvia enjoys baking sinfully delicious treats, exploring new styles of cooking, and reading to her incorrigible offspring.
