Heloise West’s Hitting Black Ice
I am excited that I had a chance to interview Heloise West. Her newest book Hitting Black Ice is out now and I cannot wait to read it. Amanda C. Stone: Good morning Heloise! So glad you could join me today. I’m going to be asking some fun questions today.
Heloise West: Thanks for having me here this morning, Amanda. J *pokes dangly heart*
ACS: If you could have any crazy talent (rolling your tongue, saying the alphabet backwards, fun things) what would you want your talent to be? Or if you already have a crazy talent, what is it?
HW: My crazy talent is…I know all the words to Don McLean’s “America Pie.” I’ve known them by heart since the 7th grade.
ACS: That’s actually a cool talent. I think I used to know all the words as well but it’s been a while since I’ve heard the song. Anyone can buy the rights to name a star. What would you name a star bought for you?
HW: I’d name the star after the best dog in the world, Zeke. He’s gone now, but he was the best.
ACS: What a beautiful tribute to your best friend. Name 3 things on your Bucket List
HW: 1. Go back to Florence, Italy.
2. Teach myself to draw and paint.
3. Learn Italian
ACS: I’m hiding in your luggage for your trip! There is magically 25 hours in a day. What would you do with the extra hour?
HW: Likely I would waste it fooling around on the Internet, but better to settle down with one of the many books demanding to be read.
ACS: An extra hour of reading would be amazing! If there were a movie about your life, who would you want to play you? It can be anyone alive or dead.
HW: First it would be the most boring movie in the world. Maybe spice it up with Francis McDormand?
ACS: Francis McDormand is a great actress! I’d watch that movie for sure! Thank you so much for being here today. I loved having you.
HW: Thanks, Amanda! 🙂
Blurb:

FBI agent Nick Truman has finally found his man, but when Shawn escapes, he focuses his attention on Hunter. Shawn returns, even though it means sacrificing himself to save Hunter from the man who framed him for murder.
Excerpt:
It was nine o’clock. They’d long lost the reservation. Hunter turned away from the warm lights of the restaurant, heart heavy. Shawn was too good to be true. For all he knew, he had a problem like Jerry’s, who’d often left him waiting, wondering, and ultimately fearing as dinner sat cold on the table. He gave in and took a step toward home.
“Hunter!”
He whipped around.
Shawn rushed toward him. He slipped on the snowy sidewalk, nearly going down, but Hunter ran at him, and they crashed together so hard his teeth clicked. Shawn’s arms went around him and his around Shawn, and they managed to hold each other up.
“I’m sorry,” were the first words out of Shawn’s mouth.
“All you deserve is pizza crusts,” Hunter mock-growled and kissed him, unconsciously trying to taste booze on his breath. Like Jerry and too many broken promises. Relieved it was only peppermint mouthwash, he didn’t stop kissing him.
When Hunter let him speak, Shawn said, “I’m starving, I’ll take it.” He pushed Hunter a little away from him. “Jesus. You’re freezing.”
“And starving. There’s a Greek pizza place down this way, come on—”
“I’ll make it up to you,” he said, taking Hunter’s hand.
