Julie Lynn Hayes’ When Will I Be Loved?

I’m beyond excited to have Julie Lynn Hayes join me today. Her newest book When Will I Be Loved? is the second book in her Crescent Bay Chronicle series and boy was it good! Amanda C. Stone: Good morning Julie! I’m so glad you’re here with me today.
Julie Lynn Hayes: Good morning Amanda! I’m so glad to be here too, thanks for having me today!
ACS: My pleasure! If there were a movie about your life, who would you want to play you? It can be anyone alive or dead.
JLH: Well, my first immediate response is Nicole Kidman, because she’s beautiful and a redhead. But we don’t really look or act anything alike, drat the luck (and wouldn’t I just love to have her handsome hubby in my bed? Wowzers!)
ACS: Oh heck yeah! That man is so drool worthy!
JLH: So, instead, I think I’ll choose Mae West. We don’t look alike, but she was a buxom beauty, and very witty and full of wisecracks, and I like her sense of humor. One of my favorite lines is from Night After Night. The hatcheck girl says, “Goodness, Maudie, what beautiful diamonds” and Mae/Maudie replies, “Goodness had nothing to do with it, dearie.” That also became the title of her autobiography.

Not that I particularly like diamonds, but Mae made no secret of the fact she enjoyed sex. “It’s not the men in my life that counts, it’s the life in my men.” 🙂
ACS: Mae West is like the original diva. I loved her movies and how frank she was about things that many people weren’t in her time. If you could be famous/infamous for one thing, what would you choose?
JLH: I think I’d like to be known for pushing the envelope, for taking things to the next level, and not being afraid to face the fallout from doing so. Maybe that boils down to having a big mouth, I’m not sure. Or sticking my foot in my mouth. Or maybe it’s just saying what other people think but don’t dare to say.
ACS: I’m widely known for my ability to put my foot in my mouth and sadly it’s not anything like pushing the envelope! *laugh* You are a super hero! What’s your super hero name and secret talent?
JLH: That’s an interesting question, hmmm, let ‘s think.
ACS: *plays Jeopardy theme*
JLH: Okay, got one. It’s not exactly traditional, but you can call me Horn o’Plenty. And my secret talent is being able to feed people, any time, any place, and never run out of food. Maybe I’d use a magic cornucopia or something, to stamp out hunger, especially among children all over the world.
ACS: I think that’s a fabulous super hero and power to be. I think we need to find a way to make that happen! Name 3 things on your Bucket List
JLH: I don’t exactly have a Bucket List per se, but there are things I’d love to do, so let’s go with that. In no particular order:
1. Visit Tuscany (I fell in love with it after reading Under the Tuscan Sun)
ACS: I claim no knowledge of why your checked bag is overweight. I most assuredly am NOT hiding in your luggage when you go!
2. Visit Egypt (I am a fanatic for all things Egyptian, and have tons of books, and some actual Egyptian scarabs)
ACS: I am jealous of your Egyptian scarabs. I wanted to be an ancient Egyptologist when I was a kid. Forget ballerina or wanting a pony. Nope, I wanted to know more about this ancient civilization.
3. Have a film made of one of my books (especially Revelations, with Ian Somerhalder playing Judas)
ACS: Mmm… Ian Somerhalder… Wait, what were we doing? Oh yes, interview. Last question! Do you have a library card and know where it is?
JLH: Actually, Amanda,   I have two. One sits in my wallet, with my other cards, and the other fits on a ring with my car key, and since it’s easy to get to, it’s the one I use. My daughter Sarah and I go to the library every Saturday, so I keep it handy lol
ACS: I love that you go to the library regularly. It’s such a great place to go. Thank you so much for stopping by today Julie. It was a pleasure having you!

Miller forced himself to take a breath, unaware until he did that he’d stopped breathing.

Quit being ridiculous. Wine going to your head already?

But he’d only had the one glass. And he hadn’t even finished that. He wasn’t such a lightweight, when it came to holding his alcohol, and he knew it.

He told himself it was just his imagination. But just to be safe, he began a slow cautious turn, looking around him, without appearing to be searching for anything—or anyone.

And there he was.

Standing a heartbeat away from Miller was one of the sexiest men he’d ever seen in his life. A man every bit as sexy as Raoul Marchand, although not in the same feral way as the werewolf.

This man was light where Raoul was dark. His hair was a honey blonde which stood out by virtue of being obviously natural, in a place where most blondes were either created by the sun or came from a bottle. He stood a little taller than Miller, exuding a presence that went beyond the merely physical, possessed of the bearing and mien of a veritable god.

But it was his eyes that drew Miller in and held him spellbound. Blue and green, like staring into tropical waves, flecked with bits of pure molten gold. And the way he was staring at Miller was sending the most delicious shivers traveling up and down his spine.

The man took a step toward Miller, his hand outstretched. Before Miller quite realized what had happened, he’d placed his own hand inside of the other man’s, and he found himself being drawn onto the dance floor.

About Julie:
Julie Lynn Hayes first began publishing short stories and poetry in the 1990’s, when it was a different ballgame altogether, and Ebooks hadn’t been dreamed of yet. That changed in 2010 with the acceptance of her first romance novel. She’s come a long way since that first book appeared, and is finding the journey a very educational one.

She lives in St. Louis with her daughter Sarah and her cat Ramesses. She often writes of two men finding true love and happiness in one another’s arms, and is a great believer in the happily ever after. She likes to write in different genres, to stretch herself in order to see what is possible. Her great challenge is to be told something can’t be done—she feels compelled to do it.

When she isn’t writing, she enjoys crafts, such as crocheting and cross stitch, needlepoint and knitting, and she loves to cook, spending time watching the Food Network.
